When updating their flagship 457 Wheel Loader, J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited (JCB) knew they would need to select a power solution that would stand up to the constant acceleration and deceleration needed to lift and load over short distances while meeting EU Stage 5 emissions requirements. These requirements lead them to select the Cummins B6.7 Performance Series to power the latest model.
The B6.7 Performance Series engine has been improved with increased power and torque for Stage 5 emissions. It offers Original Equipment Manufactures (OEMs) the opportunity to downsize from larger engines, saving cost without impacting machine capability.
“We are excited that JCB has expanded their portfolio of Cummins powered equipment.” says Giles Bird, JCB Global account lead. He added that, “this is a significant win of the flagship installation at JCB Earthmovers. We have taken it back from Motoren und Turbinen-Union (MTU) 7.7-liter engine with a strong engineering partnership between us and JCB over the last two years. It has proven that the performance improvements from Cummins’ Stage 5 development program are delivering for our customers.”
A Cummins customer for over 25 years, JCB’s 457 Wheel-Loader becomes the ninth machine in the current JCB UK portfolio to be powered by Cummins. Since the beginning of the relationship, Cummins has delivered over 49,000 engines to JCB.
